Welcome to the LORDS - Lanka Online Registry of Data Standards. LORDS is Sri Lanka’s repository for national data standards. The repository contains approved meta data standards and is available free of charge to all. LORDS provides powerful search facilities to find metadata quickly. In case, where the metadata needed, does not exist in the repository, LORD's metadata creation tool (TBD) will help create quality metadata and getting them endorsed.
From a technical viewpoint, LORDS is a system or application where metadata is stored, managed and disseminated. The registry aspects of LORDS have been aligned with the international standard for metadata registry - ISO/IEC 11179 [Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 and Part 6].
About Meta data: The current scope of meta data in the LIFe V2 is limited to 'Data Element Types' and 'Data Elements'. Data Element Types are simple or complex data types required for defining the standard data formats that will be used by the 'Data Elements'. For example, 'date' Data Element Type format may be standardised as YYYY/MM/DD. Now, this 'date' Data Element Type could be used by different Data Elements which are of date type such as 'date of birth', 'date of application', etc.
Currently this version continues with the Data Element Types and Data Elements from earlier versions of the LIFe, i.e., the personal data information domain. However, plans are in pipeline to include Data Element Types and Data Elements from other information domain as well such as Land, Health and Education domain.
The Data Element Types and Data Elements excluded from this exercise (or these information domain) will still be considered for ad-hoc standardization if received as candidate standards, through the tools recommended herein.
Please find the link for the data architecture for personal details below. This contains a mix of Data Element Types and Data Elements required for representing 'Personal Data' of a person.
